Refund & Return Policy

This Refund & Return Policy applies to purchases of the Global South Drum Machine and other products from Sonic Liberation Devices (“SLD,” “we,” “us”). By placing an order — including a preorder — you agree to the terms below.

1. Preorders — please read first

The Global South Drum Machine is currently sold as a preorder. This means:

  • Your card is charged in full ($1,600) at the time you place your order. Your payment reserves your unit and funds the production run.
  • The product is not yet shipping. The current estimated ship date is early 2027. This is a good-faith estimate and may change as production progresses.
  • We will email you with meaningful updates and a firm ship date before your unit ships. Units ship in the order preorders are received.

2. Preorder cancellations & refunds

2a. 1 week cancellation window

You may cancel your preorder for any reason within 1 week of placing your order and receive a full refund, including any shipping charged. To cancel, email team@sonicliberationdevices.com from the address on your order, with your order number, within that window.

2b. After 1 week

After the 1 week window, preorders are non-refundable, because your payment funds materials and manufacturing for your unit — except as required by law or as described in Sections 2c and 3 below. You may still transfer your preorder to another person by contacting us.

2c. Your right to cancel if we miss our ship date (this overrides 2b)

If we are unable to ship by the estimated ship date (or any revised date we give you), we will notify you, provide a revised estimated date, and offer you the choice to:

  • consent to the delay and keep your preorder, or
  • cancel your preorder for a full refund.

If you do not consent to a significant delay, you are entitled to cancel and receive a full refund to your original payment method. This right applies regardless of the 1 week window in Section 2a.

3. After your unit ships — returns

Once your Global South Drum Machine has shipped and been delivered, the following standard return terms apply.

  • You have 14 days from the date of delivery to request a return.
  • To be eligible, the item must be in the same condition you received it — unused or gently tested, with all original packaging, accessories, and inserts.
  • To start a return, email team@sonicliberationdevices.com with your order number. If approved, we’ll send return instructions and a return address. Items sent back without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
  • Return shipping: unless the item arrived damaged or defective (Section 4), you are responsible for return shipping costs, and original shipping charges are non-refundable. We recommend a tracked, insured method for a high-value item.

4. Damaged, defective, or wrong items

Please inspect your order on delivery. If your unit arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered, contact us at team@sonicliberationdevices.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos. We will make it right — repair, replacement, or a full refund including shipping — at no cost to you. Nothing in this policy limits any warranty that comes with the product or any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.

5. Non-returnable items & exceptions

The following are not eligible for return except where the item is damaged/defective (Section 4) or where required by law:

  • Items returned more than 14 days after delivery.
  • Items not in original, resalable condition (excessive wear, missing packaging/accessories, modified or damaged by the customer).
  • Gift cards, downloadable/digital goods, and any clearance or “final sale” items (if offered).

If you’re unsure whether your item qualifies, email us before sending anything back.

6. How refunds are processed

  • Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method.
  • Once approved, please allow up to 10 business days for us to process the refund; your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post it.
  • If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your refund and you haven’t received it, contact team@sonicliberationdevices.com.

7. International orders

For orders shipped outside the United States, you may have additional rights under your local consumer-protection law (for example, a statutory cancellation/withdrawal period). Where local law gives you greater rights than this policy, those rights apply. Customs duties, taxes, and import fees are the customer’s responsibility and are generally non-refundable.
